The 2012 soccer season is about to be kick started with the Champions League at Ratu Cakabau Park and all teams have begun or are about to begin their preparation for another grueling season ahead.

As usual players are on the move again as the transfer restriction has been lifted till mid-February. Teams are again looking forward to filling in key positions which they deem as their weakness.

Some of the hot properties rumoured to be on the move include National Rep Samuela Kautoga, Star Striker Earon Underwood, GoalKeeper Simione Tamanisau and Fiji U-20 striker Jone Salaenuenu.

Kautoga has been linked to a possible move to Vanuatu Club Amicle FC and also a possible return to Lautoka where he played before moving to Labasa. Skillful striker Earon Underwood has also been rumoured to re-join his hometown team of Lautoka but this has so far not been validated by both parties with only verbal understanding taking place.

National Goalie Tamanisau is looking for a move to Papua New Guineas Hekari United where he had a stint during the clubs participation at the FIFA Club World Club competition. Meanwhile, upcoming Tavua striker, Jone Salaenuenu, who was last year linked to Navua and Lautoka is also looking for a fresh start this year. Salaenuenu who had earlier applied for release to join Nadi has so far withdrawn that application and now applied for a release to hometown of Ba.

Some other top players who are likely to join new squads are Nadroga rep Iskeli Jeke to Lautoka, Rewa Midfielder Numaia Tagi eyeing a return to Ba, Solid Rewa defender Lorima Dau to Labasa, Navua Striker Joseph Mishra to Suva, Lautoka goalie Parmesh Prasad to Nadroga, Tavua Midfield general Lovneel Pratap to Ba and National and Navua goalie Benamino Mataniqera to Nadi.

Player movements are expected to increase as the transfer deadline draws near, as it is then when one could actually lay to rest all the rumours and confirm all the team roster changes for the new season.
